Chief Architect, Co-Founder – Accumedia provided a unique hosted and managed enterprise content management, control and delivery system targeted for the needs of the media and entertainment industries. The Accumedia Convergence Platform (ACP) contained a fully integrated suite of managed software applications for design, extended content management, personalization, commerce and multi-platform delivery. The ACP was a very large scale, high volume, hosted solution built on a J2EE architecture.
Responsible for providing detailed technology strategy and software development planning; interpretation of requirements from marketing, operations, and professional services; translated requirements into software product definition and architecture; led implementation of all Accumedia products and led development efforts for customer deployments.
Probita provides software development services, consulting, and operational infrastructure products to the cable television and telecommunications industries.
12/94-7/98 VP / General Manager - Custom Solutions Group - Responsible for Probita’s main line of business, producing majority of annual revenues. Responsibilities included: business development, direct involvement in the majority of sales, and directing of operations for custom software development services and internal software product development. Top level responsibility for development of Proclaim, Probita’s Multicast Data Distribution product. Specific involvement included sales, account management, P+L responsibility for development program, architectural oversight for the product. Acted as interim CTO for spin-off business to acquire outside capital and launch separate business around the Proclaim product.
6/93-12/94 Technical Director - Lead architect for TV Guide On-Screen’s data management system, responsible for system architecture and oversight of implementation project. Awarded US Patent 5,666,645 for this architecture.
Consultant to Sega Channel: represented TCI as a venture partner in development of the RFP for the cable adapter and game distribution technology. Evaluated proposals and made recommendations based on the resulting bids. Participated in executive sales presentations to senior management of top MSO's for Sega Channel's initial launch.
Account manager for TCI: While I was account manager, TCI represented almost 100% of Probita’s revenues. Responsible for all sales and technical coordination of projects in the account. Participated at the architectural level in system requirements specification for TCI's NDTC (Headend In The Sky) control systems for DigiCable.
7/91-5/93 Application Architect, Project Manager - Managed development of field addressability management system (FAMS) for TCI. FAMS was a PC / Windows based product for distributed control of pay events. Responsible for various system implementations in the re-engineering of TCI’s national addressable center. Managed production turnover of the system for the 1992 Olympics triple-cast pay-event.
Founder and Principle - Coyote Systems was an independent software consulting and product development firm. Developed and successfully marketed a data collection and access control system for corporate wellness centers. Customers included Coors’ award winning facility.
Examples of projects include: development of a seismic processing product for Green Mountain Geophysics, development of “Executive Assistant” a Windows based PIM for laptops containing cellular phone capabilities for Quest Computer Systems.
Co-Founder and President - Completed several large development contracts including: User interface development for Precision Visuals Inc., a distributed real-time data collection and display for acoustic target systems deployed by Unisys at Fort Benning GA (featured in Popular Science magazine) and development of cash dispensing machine interfaces for Affiliated Banks of CO. Established successful business partner relationships with IBM and Allen-Bradley.
8/89 – 12/96 Continued involvement with company as advisor, stockholder, and consultant. Synapse moved to Golden CO in 1990 and the company changed its name to Antalys in 1993. Antalys was acquired by Baan NV in Dec. 1996. Antalys’s highly successful sales configuration product was merged with Baan's ERP system.
Application Architect, Engineering Manager - Senior technical staff member of Satellite Information Systems Company (SISCOM), a publicly held software engineering firm. SISCOM was both a developer of new technology in satellite communications and one of the leading manufacturers of software in the electronic media industry. Responsibilities included system architecture, project management and involvement in strategic planning, sales and new business development.
Co-architect and a principal technical contributor on the development of SISCOM's NewsPro product. During the time of my involvement it was considered the leading integrated broadcast news production system available. NewsPro was in use by NBC News, National Public Radio, Financial News Network (FNN), Christian Science Monitor and other major television and radio news organizations.
Prior to creating NewsPro, managed SISCOM's contract programming staff and acted as project manager on several major projects. Among the projects were: development of the "Newsroom of the Future" for British Columbia Television's pavilion at Expo-86, and a joint venture with Intel Corp. to develop the VAX/VMS session layer component of their OpenNET product.
Systems Programmer - Responsible for all systems software development and management of applications programming staff. CRC was a subsidiary of Petroleum Information Corp. and produced graphics products for use in reservoir engineering and mapping.
Software engineer in Digital's Laboratory Data Products division. Project lead for MINC BASIC V3.0. Led project to bring BASIC-11 into compliance with the ANSI standard. Involved in development of remote real-time data acquisition systems. Presented several scientific papers on laboratory computer networking at national conferences.
